Springdale, Arkansas — Downtown Springdale is hosting the Bear National Team, an elite level junior and U23 team of mountain bikers who are competing in the OZ Trails U.S. Pro Cup races this month in Fayetteville, AR. The Bear National Team will stay at Natural State Rock & Republic, a multi-faceted cycling retreat owned by former professional cyclists Scotti and Ernie Lechuga and located in downtown Springdale.

The Bear National Team riders hail from 15 states and 17 National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) leagues. Ages range from 15-22. “This is an incredible opportunity for these young riders to participate in the U.S. Pro Cup races – an event that draws athletes from around the nation,” says Julia Violich, Bear National Team Director. The OZ Trails U.S. Pro Cup is hosted by Experience Fayetteville and is a qualifier for the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. “The team represents the future of the mountain biking sport, so partnering with Scotti and Ernie Lechuga and Natural State Rock & Republic during their stay is a perfect fit.”

Natural State Rock & Republic will host the Bear National Team from April 8-18 and will provide the riders with lodging, recovery rides between races, and coordination for educational seminars throughout their stay.

“When we founded Natural State Rock & Republic earlier this year, we specifically repurposed this property in Springdale as a cycling retreat,” says Scotti Lechuga, the company’s founder. “Our vision included hosting cycling teams, and it’s so wonderful to see that coming to life now!  We've worked to make the property as accommodating as possible for cyclists, and we’re beyond thrilled to have the Bear National Team staying with us. It’s a unique opportunity for us to give back to the sport that has given us so much.”

The OZ Trails U.S. Pro Cup races will take place at Centennial Park in Fayetteville and are open to the public. More details about the race schedule can be found here.
