Come explore the rich traditions of the Marshall Islands. During the event, master boat-builder Liton Beasa will begin construction of a kōrkōr, a traditional Marshallese wooden canoe. Beasa will set up shop on the museum grounds where you can drop by and watch him work Tuesday through Saturday, April 14 to May 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Marshallese Culture Day is sponsored by the Arkansas Coalition of Marshallese. The boat-building project is supported in part by a grant from the Arkansas Humanities Council and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
