Artspace Public Meeting – Springdale
January 30, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Walton Family Foundation has invited Artspace, the nation’s leading nonprofit developer of affordable space for artists and arts organizations, to help Springdale assess the feasibility of a local arts/artist development.
Artspace would like to better understand how artist spaces fit into the community’s current priorities and hear from locals. You are invited to see a presentation by Artspace and then participate in a public forum and offer your insight. With your help, we hope to gather ideas about what the creative sector is missing, collect feedback about potential sites, and look at fresh ideas to serve the needs of Springdale. Potential ideas can include live/work housing, co-working spaces, shared spaces, gallery space, and other arts-related concepts.
This early discussion is intended to gather input from the community about current and potential new creative spaces and needs; public input and insight is of great value.
Please take part in a public meeting at Arts Center of the Ozarks, 214 S. Main, Springdale, AR at 6:30pm on February 1st.

In a first-of-its-kind regional approach, this study will gather ideas and leaders from across Northwest Arkansas to assess the creative and cultural space needs of the area. Some of the key goals of this work are to gain a better understanding of the region’s diversity of creative people and organizations as well as the potential steps toward creating sustainable, affordable spaces to support them.
The study will address six main questions: What kinds of creative spaces are needed and wanted? What is the market for these types of spaces? What resources are available? Who are possible partners? Where are potential sites located? How can a project align with broader community goals?
Springdale, Fayetteville, Bentonville and Rogers will all participate in the process. The initial step will be the Preliminary Feasibility Study, focusing on community input from one city at a time. The second step, the Arts Market Study, will gather data about the market through a region-wide survey of space needs.
This work is led by Artspace and is generously supported by the Walton Family Foundation.
