Short and Sweet Headlines are Best!

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Jim D. Rollins, Superintendent of the Springdale School District, who was honored with the 2018 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drum Major Award for Innovative Service in Education in Washington, D.C..

The Unity Love Planning Committee invites you to participate in the the 2nd annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade, celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr..

The parade will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019, starting from Luther George Park promptly at 11:30 AM. The line-up for the parade will start at 11:00 AM. The parade will end at the Pat Walker Theatre at Springdale High School, where a diverse set of organizations, performers, and speakers will come together with community members to celebrate the life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr. and his work to bring forth a society based on justice, equal opportunity, and love of one’s fellow human beings. Springdale Mayor Doug Sprouse will share a few words and present the City’s proclamation encouraging residents to live out King’s message of unity and acceptance.

Following the presentation, community members are invited to the Breaking Bread luncheon to congregate and make new friends. Food will be provided by by Second Hand Smoke and Don Pedros Tacos.

Day of Service on January 19th

The Teen Action and Support Center is hosting a Day of Service on Saturday, January 19th from 10AM – 2PM. The day will consist of designing signs for the march and (weather-permitting) beautifying the parade route.
